ive got a psp………..its awwwwsome………sony did so good on it why upgrade and risk screwing it up. my opinion……..but i did do a stupid thing and buy a sticky scin for it.long story short, taking it off ugh,rather not talk about it. so dont buy one of those scins.

check ebay, there are people offering unbricking service for about £30.

I presume they mod the psp, unbrick it and flash it to 1.5 then remove the chip and return you the psp.

Well, seein how no one has answered your question means that no one has an idea, other than the “Go to a store, buy a PSP, and swap it with yours and say it didn’t work” idea that you came up with. I dont know what you should do, i dont. I recently broke mine by putting it in my backpack with some fairly large text books (i know, not smart) and the screen is completely shattered, amazingly, everything still works, it still reads disks, charges, reads media on the Memory stick, but it is 100% impossible to “view” anything on the screen, i was considering shipping it so a friend (with insurance) and saying that they handling was poor and it broke my PSP, but i was on the same boat as you and it just wouldnt feel right, as it is clearly my fault that it is broken. I have yet to buy a new one. Sorry i cant help.

depends on what kind of mod chip it is. there are mod chips for psp that let u play japanese games or from another country. there are some where wen u play online, u can cheat by modifying (or customizing) your own cheats when you play online. It basically gives u power to modify anything on a psp. Note: IT COULD MESS UP YOUR PSP BADLY BY NOT TURNING ON PERMINATELY OR WORSE!!

The Mod-Chip has been released, but not completely available to buy. None on eBay.

They are currently taking pre-orders now, and yes, they do post to the US. (a large country selection).

if you need this to play downloaded games. i think you need to downgrade to 1.5 than you have to chnage it to 3.03oec which it is the same as mine. you could put ur games into a espeisifc folder and ready to play. check website to downgrade and upgrade to specific firmware

hey, i also bricked my psp yesterday. i am a proffesinal at the psp level im a hacker. but it wasent my mistake the red screen came and the psp stopped but it still didinot work. it got bricked the thing is that i tried to find a solution on youtube.com and all that ppl have there r only answers for unbrinking a psp that has a flash eroor or something serious they still can enter the recover mood. in our case (me and you) we bricked it that we destroyed the mother bored. u will have to go to sony if they know u were down or upgrading at that time the warrenty wont work and u have to pay for the repair, people think that they change the mother bored but they dont. i know that because my frind briked his and wanted o know how they fixed it and the scratch was still there after they fixed it. there r ways to fic it but u need to use a modship. because in our case when u turn the psp on it wont reach the meomory stick becauase the light doesnot go on. if it was we can propably install the system to the memmory through the computer and fix everything. but it wont work in our case cause the psp will not attempt to acces the memory. meaning that there r solutions but u either need a mod chip and/or a new mother bored. but when this is done u will never be able to use sony to fix it

when the psp is opend the warrente is over. i dont think the warrenty will be over because u failed to downgrade it, never the less if u want thier help. never ever let them now u were up od downgrading

Yes. PSP has a mod chip.

However, if your PSP is version 3.03 and below, you don’t need a mod chip to do what you want. All you need to do is to downgrade your PSP to version 1.50.
